Welcome to our Forest Kindergarten's Website!

Our children are growing up in a world that is out of touch with nature. They experience their world indirectly through mediums such as television and computers; many children have never seen a cow or squirrel except for on television. Over time, an acute lack of exercise can lead to postural deformities, behavioral deficits, underdeveloped motor skills, and weight problems.

The conceptual basis of our kindergarten aims to nurture children in an environment in which they can experience nature firsthand while enjoying their natural love of movement. Our forest kindergarten is actually a kindergarten and preschool in one, accommodating children ages 3-6.

We began our forest kindergarten project on September 1, 2006 with a single group of children on the grounds of the children's camp “kid's life” in Ilmenau-Roda.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us along the way and hope that we can continue building on this support!

We offer information evenings to inform the public about our work and the kindergarten's philosophy in addition to regular member meetings.

The planned dates for these meetings can be found here or by calling.

Questions, suggestions, and opinions are welcome!

If you are interested, but cannot attend the mentioned events, feel free to call or email us.

A person's five senses are his tools for experiencing, discerning, and perceiving his environment.

It was once said:

Tell me how the grass after a summer shower and the damp piles of leaves in fall smell, how you feel the smooth chestnut in your hand and the black berry between your lips, how snow and icicles taste, how you see the sun in the morning, and how you feel when darkness descends in the evening.
